  1. Title from previous owner signed over to you
  2. Bill of Sale Form
  3. Odometer Disclosure Statement may be needed
  4. Verification of Vehicle Identification (VIN) may be needed
  5. Valid form of identification

Pursuant to New Hampshire law, a Bill of Sale for a used automobile must include the following information:

  1. The date of the sale.
  2. A detailed description of the automobile, including:
    • Make
    • Model
    • Color
    • Vehicle identification number
    • Model year
    • Year of manufacture
    • Type of body
    • Number of cylinders
  3. Name, signature and legal address (no PO Box) of purchaser.
  4. Name, signature and legal address (no PO Box) of seller.

Federal law requires that the seller disclose the mileage of a used car when being transferred to another person. Failure to disclose the actual mileage or misrepresenting the mileage may result in fines and/or imprisonment. Be sure the give the buyer a completed, accurate statement of the car’s mileage.
